With that out of the way, I wanted to take a moment to interview a classy lady and fellow Spring Fling author, Jamie Campbell. A self-confessed television addict, dog lover, Taylor Swift fan, and ghost hunter, Jamie loves nothing more than the thrill of sharing her stories. Please welcome Jamie!
What’s your favorite thing about spring?
The weather is getting warmer which means summer is on its way. I love that all the flowers come out in bloom and the atmosphere switches into being fresher, a new beginning for the new season.
What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Getting to wear my pajamas whenever I want to, being able to have my dog as my office assistant, and allowing my imagination to get as crazy as it wants to. Apart from that, the best thing is coming up with characters that readers can connect with and let them escape into a fantasy world for a few hours.
Tell us more about your books.
I have three books in the Spring Fling – Unite which is about an alien than falls in love with a human, Love Songs is about a shy teenager who puts all her secrets into the songs she writes, and Fashion Fraud which centers on Truly Winx, the greatest fashion designer wannabe that ever lived.
Tell us something interesting about your main character.
Amery Jones from Unite is an alien, but she has been living on Earth her entire life. Her job is to blend in with the humans, make them all like her so they will accept the rest of her people when they arrive from the planet Trucon. She also has a major love/hate relationship with Lochie Mercury, the thorn in her side.
Plotter or Pantser?
The rest of my entire life is very organised, my plots are not. I am a complete pantser. I have a general outline of the novel but everything between beginning and end is made up as I go along. More often than not the characters do something that even I didn’t see coming and then I have to make it work with the rest of the story.
What was the last YA book you read?
I read Trust me, I’m Lying by Mary Elizabeth Summer. I could not put it down, absolutely enthralled and just, you know, cool. Loved the characters.
Why do you write YA?
Why not write YA? Being a teenager is hard, being a teenager in a book is even harder. I love that time of life when there are so many possibilities and every decision can take the person down a completely different path. You just never know what could happen.
What are your top tips for surviving a zombie apocalypse?
True story: I have a vast collection of soap and cleaning products that I intend to trade for food during a zombie apocalypse. Everyone else will have weapons, I will have soap.
Besides having something to trade for other products, my top tip is to not die.
Where can readers find your books?
Amazon, B&N, iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords. The best place to start looking is through my website at http://www.jamiecampbell.com.au
